ProtoMed is not only a name. It is a concept; that of being the first organization of its kind in the medical sector for Pakistan. The distinguishing feature of ProtoMed is its commitment to serve the neglected health care sector, services that were not being offered anywhere else here, under a single roof.

ProtoMed was born many years ago, in the mind of its founder. A medical doctor who decided to opt for the challenging offices of hospital management. But his story is not his story alone. It is the story of most of the health care managers, in most places around the world. Despite his strong organizational  background, he always found that the management of a hospital was clearly different from most others. It needed more than a management mind and fervor for this uphill task. He felt a need that such consultants be available in times of need to avoid wastage of precious time, efforts, and money of the healthcare service providers. There were a little few available who were formally qualified in health care management, and in his own town less than a handful at that time! It was then, that a consultant firm was visualized that could offer services in the field. Over the time as he gained experience, he learned that good information is crucially needed for  good management. An information  system that can offer the administrative and clinical information as and when needed. The answers to all the questions... 

What, When, Why, Where, Who and How.

How many patients entered the hospital in any given time? How many left? What did they pay? How many got well? How many are still unwell? How is the performance this month: compared to the last month, the last whole year, the same month in the last year, and the months in the previous years... All the internal comparison! And the outside world, with the other hospitals? How are they performing? How do most of the hospitals perform in his town? How do most hospitals perform in the country? Non was available. What should be the comparative and absolute standards of quality? and set on what rules? None was available. 

The answers t these questions became the guiding light to our directions and movement. We thus identified the areas we had to focus at,
